If you are unable to come to us, we will come to you!

Home Visit Options:

Our practices offer home visits to all patients who are unable to attend the practice due to a physical/mental illness or disability. These appointments can either be privately funded or be done under the NHS. The NHS provide home visits free of charge for those patients that satisfy the qualifying criteria.

If you are able to leave your home on your own without needing help or assistance you would not qualify for an NHS funded home visit. In order to be able to have a home visit free of charge under the NHS you must have a physical or mental illness which prevents you from leaving your home AND must be eligible for a free NHS funded eye examination. NHS eye examinations are free of charge for those aged 60 or over, registered sight impaired or severely sight impaired, diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma, aged 40 or over & have a direct family member diagnosed with glaucoma, or those receiving certain benefits. You may also be eligible for a home visit if you are a sole carer for another person and therefore unable to attend one of our practices. If you would like more information on whether you would qualify for an NHS funded home visit please contact your desired practice.

Home Visits Explained:

We will contact you 24 hours prior to your visit to check that the appointment is still convenient for you, to inform you of the name of your visiting Optometrist, and to answer any initial questions you may have. The examination usually takes approximately 45 minutes. We would like to reassure you that an at-home eye examination is very similar to one that you would experience in practice and our fully qualified optometrist that will conduct this examination has over 30 years of experience in providing eye care at home.

Any spectacles ordered can be delivered to you, or if you prefer you can arrange for someone to collect them from your closest practice.
