Know the risks of Halloween contact lenses!
Halloween Contact Lenses
The College of Optometrists estimates that almost 63% of those who plan to dress up for Halloween will consider wearing cosmetic contact lenses, and yet only 27% of those people will get them from a qualified optometrist.
Did you know that it is ILLEGAL to sell zero powered contact lenses in the UK without the supervision of an optometrist, dispensing optician or doctor.
It is important to know the risks of wearing these lenses and the impact they can have on your eyes. It is very common for these novelty contact lenses to cause problems such as infections, scratches on the cornea, conjunctivitis and even impaired vision.
If you are considering wearing these for Halloween please speak to your optometrist about the lenses you can safely be fitted with. Don't take the risk of permanent sight loss or serious visual impairment just to 'look good' this Halloween!
